Rugby in many a town in New Zealand provides a focal point for the community. This is the history of one such – the Balfour Rugby Club – from 1899 to the current day. Since those early foundation years, the club has put a team on the paddock thereby becoming an integral part of the Balfour district which the district is proud to call its own.
